Paypal is announcing general launch of Paypal Website Payments Pro Canada today. Being from Canada ourselves, we are pleased that PayPal selected Shopify as their launch partner.

Shopify recommends PayPal Website Payments Pro to all our existing customers who already accept PayPal Standard as well as to new merchants because of its seamless integration into the Shopify checkout system that doesn’t require customers to visit any PayPal sites to conduct the transaction.

Pricing

  • $35 CAD monthly (No monthly fee in 2008)
  • No set-up fees
  • No cancellation fees
  • Transaction fees 1.9% to 2.9% + $0.30CAD

You can sign up with the service here Shopify is already setup to support it, simply follow the directions in the Gateway Preference screen.

We’ve been using it on our website for some time (as part of the beta program), and it’s been working great.

Our customers love the quick checkout – just two pages, and they’re done.

Thanks for implementing this!

A word of warning – we applied for our Pro account on the 27th September and we’re still waiting for feedback on the application.

When applying it said it would take 5 – 7 days but, on phoning their support, it transpired that they have several weeks of backlogs due to their current promotion and do not have the resource to catch up.

Also had awful customer service… and we’re still waiting…

We were approved rather quickly through PayPal… but now a day before our launch, we’ve confirmed with paypal that everything has been set up correctly, but unfortunately no purchases work from shopify! Has anyone run into internal errors, or gateway errors using Payments pro (CA)? I’m posting here because I’m not getting any answers elsewhere…
